Globe Telecom Inc., the country's second-largest telecommunications firm, is calling on mobile developers to create innovative applications for Google's Android platform.
The company recently launched the "Globe Challenge for Android" contest, which allows mobile developers to submit their proposals for any of these 5 categories -- games, messaging and communications, entertainment, social networking, and productivity.
All applications to be developed must operate on the Android mobile platform using the Android Software Development Kit (SDK) not lower than version 1.5.
Globe started accepting proposals last April 19, and the deadline for submission is on May 11.
Actual entries will be accepted from June 2 to 28, in time for the screening and elimination round on June 30.
Twenty-five finalists will receive P25,000 each, while winners for each of the 5 categories will receive an additional P50,000.
On top of the cash prizes, the chosen participants will have the chance to get international funding with the help of Silicon Valley-based Plug and Play Tech Center.
